2778698 - Business Partner Replication Failing with Error- You can only create sales data for customers

Symptom

Business Partner replication from external system to Cloud for Customer failing with error: 'You can only create sales data for customers.' Typically, the error "Business partner xxx is not a customer" is also present.

Environment

Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to Cloud for Customer.
  2. Go to Administrator workcenter.
  3. Open Web-Service Message Monitoring view.
  4. Find and select corresponding message which has failed with the error.
  5. Check the error log.

Cause

In Cloud for Customer, Sales Data can be maintained only for Customer (Corporate Accounts and Prospects) not Individual Customers or Competitors. If the CategoryCode in the payload has the value 1, it refers to Individual Customers.  

Resolution

This is an expected system behavior, Sales Data can be maintained only for Accounts. For an account, the CategoryCode should be 2.
