2780265 - Query Designer crashes when fetching variable list

Symptom

You want to restrict a characteristic in Query Designer.

When you select to show variables in the selection screen, Query Designer crashes.

In the Query Designer trace, you found the following entry:

BexSelector.SElUIDialog.HandleUnhandledException -> Exception
   at com.sap.bi.et.selector.api.SelGetMetaData.LoadVariables(ISelInfoObject iInfoObject)
   at com.sap.bi.et.selector.BExSelectorDialog.SelUIToolVariablesController.GetVariables(SelUIVariablesReadParams pReadParams)
   at com.sap.bi.et.selector.BExSelectorDialog.SelUIToolVariablesController.GetData(SelUIDataReadParams pReadParams)
   ...

In some cases you experience the error message:

Operation failed! No detailed error information from backend available
