2780964 - How to force Excel to open in a new instance by default without Analysis for Office Add-in

Symptom

When Analysis for Office is started, then regular Excel cannot be started without Analysis for Office Add-in.

3rd party behavior.

Resolution

Analysis for Office settings

Please use the load behavior /lb 0 parameter in the registry and in the Analysis for Office shortcut at the same time, to avoid that the Analysis for Office is started when open a regular Excel.

Search for /lb 0
Search for /CreateProcess

The /CreateProcess parameter works only with Analysis for Office.

 

Similar parameter that works only with Microsof Excel is called DisableMergeInstance, see below how it works.

Results of the settings

Case1:

Set DisableMergeInstance 1 allows to open a regular Excel and Analysis for Office in parallel, both instances use separated memory.

Case2:

Set DisableMergeInstance 0 allows to open a regular Excel or Analysis for Office, but both are equal with or without Analysis for Office Add-in.

Overall information

Each new Excel session consume memory, which can influence the client PC or Citrix and Excel performance.
