2781303 - "Failed to start Repository Service" when start the ASE Cockpit - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Cockpit dies immediately upon start.  
  • SQL Anywhere transaction log is corrupt. 
  • does not have repository db backups
  • ASE Cockpit refuses to Start.  
  • Following entries are seen in the Agent log:
    Caused by: com.sybase.ua.service.AgentServiceException: Failed to start Repository Service: Failed to start database com.sybase.ua.services.asa.ASADatabase@c41d3973 com.sybase.ua.util.JDBCUtils$RuntimeSQLException: START DATABASE '$SYBASE/COCKPIT-4/services/Repository/db/repository.db'
    Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: [Sybase][JDBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]Unable to start specified database: repository.log is an invalid transaction log
