2784113 - Error is Thrown When Changing the Serial Number Profile

Symptom

You are trying to change the Serial Number Profile for Product XXX, however you are facing an error.

XXX = Product ID

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Product Data work center.
  2. Select the Materials view.
  3. Find the Product XXX.
  4. Open the Product XXX.
  5. Select View All.
  6. Select the General tab.
  7. Select the General sub tab.
  8. Change the Serial Number Profile.
  9. The following error is displayed:

Open task found for material XXX; serial profile cannot be changed.

Cause

You have finished all the tasks, however you still have one or more not closed Production Lots. The Production Lot has status Finished, but it needs to be Closed.

Resolution

  1. Go to the Inventory Valuation work center.
  2. Select the Production Lots view.
  3. Select the Advanced Search.
  4. Fulfill the Material ID XXX.
  5. Open the Production Lot.
  6. Choose View All.
  7. Select Close Lot.

The Production Lot Status will not be Finished anymore, it will be closed.
