2784359 - Workflow does not show higher level position when parent position approver has no incumbent - Employee Central

Workflow is configured to set Parent Position as step approver but the parent position do not have incumbent.

1. Configure the step approver to look at the Parent Position:
    
2. Trigger the workflow
   
   Result:
   
   The position is an step approver instead of the higher level position.
   

Expected behavior, the workflow engine will never escalate the steps to the next position if parent position does have incumbents.

No Workflow Behavior

• Skip The Workflow: the data will save without workflow.
• Stop the Workflow: workflow will remain with invalid approver and can be found in Manage Workflow Requests

 Workaround for workflows with invalid approvers: 

• Go to Manage Workflow Requests;
• Search for request type "Change Generic Object Actions"
• Object > Position;
• Search > Take Action;
• Change approver > select new approver;
• Save.

An enhancement request can be submit on customer end to review this functionality.
