2784703 - Legal Entity is Blank After Enabling the New Enforce New Employment in case of Rehire or Transfer Feature

Symptom

  • After enabling the new "Enforce New Employment in case of Rehire or Transfer" feature ECT-102408/ECT-108303 as described in: Optional: Prohibiting Change of Legal Entity in Any Employment
  • On Rehiring a user to the same employment, the Legal Entity field is not editable, as expected, however, there is no value maintained.
    As the field is null and not editable, you are not able to proceed and as such, not able to rehire a user to the same Legal Entity.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enable the "Enforce New Employment in case of Rehire or Transfer"
  2. Navigate to the Rehire Inactive Users UI
  3. Try to rehire a user to the same employment
  4. The Legal Entity/Company field is not editable as expected, however there is no value maintained
  5. As you cannot edit the field you cannot select a Legal Entity/Company and as such cannot proceed to rehire a user to the same employment

Cause

  • This issue is caused by the use of another feature.
  • In the "Recruit/Rehire Configuration: MatchingUserConfiguration" object, the feature option to "Default Job Information during rehire" is set to "No"
  • This means that on rehire of a user, the Job Information, including the Company/Legal Entity is removed.
  • These two features can not currently be used together, as the use of both means you will not be able to rehire a user to the same employment.

Resolution

To resolve, you will need to decided which feature you will need to use as both can not be used in conjunction with each other. After you have decided you can disable one on the below by following the below steps: Implementing and Managing the Employment Lifecycle (from Hiring to Termination)

Disable: Enforce New Employment in case of Rehire or Transfer: Creating the Hire/Rehire Configuration Object

  1. Navigate to Admin Center > Manage Data
  2. Select the "Employment Settings Configuration" object
  3. Take Action > Make correct and set the feature "Enforce New Employment"  to be "No Selection"
  4. Save

Disable: Default Job Information during rehire: Creating the Employment Settings Configuration Object

  1. Navigate to Admin Center > Manage Data
  2. Select the "Recruit/Rehire Configuration: MatchingUserConfiguration" object
  3. Take Action > Make correct and set the feature "Default Job Information during rehire"  to be "Yes"
  4. Save
