2784771 - Unable to Start SAP JAVA System Created From Backup/ Restore Copy

Symptom

  • A new SAP JAVA system is created from a homogenous system copy using the backup/ restore method.
  • The system start fails with the error: "Already running with PID<NNNN>".
  • Check file /usr/sap/<SID>/<INST>/work/sapstart.sem and you will find the following:
  • readInstInfoFromProfile: examining profile "/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_SCS<INS. NO>_<HOSTNAME>".  StartInstance: Start for instance <INS> not necessary - other SAPSTART (pid = NNNNNN) is already active.

  • This may occur for other instances not just SCS.
