2786200 - Insufficient memory in Delete Backup Tables Step in SUM Java

Symptom

While performing an upgrade of a Java system using SUM, the following error occurs during Delete Backup Tables Step:

  • DELETE-BACKUP-TABLES_XX.LOG:

    [Error ]: Error while executing command runhandler.
    [Error ]: Return code condition success evaluated to false for process java.exe for action runhandler.
    [Error ]: The following problem has occurred during step execution: com.sap.sdt.db.dmtif.DMTProcessException: Could not complete DMT process. Check the DMT.DROP_TABLE.LOG log file.
    Could not execute DMT command runhandler with arguments E:\MEDIA\update\SUM\sdt\config\DMT.DROP_TABLE.xml.
    Return code condition success evaluated to false for process java.exe for action runhandler.

  • DMT.DROP_TABLE_XX_XX.OUT:

    # There is insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment to continue.
    # Native memory allocation (malloc) failed to allocate XXXXX bytes for ChunkPool::allocate. Out of swap space or heap resource limit exceeded (check with limits or ulimit)?
