2787623 - Excess Time Lost When User Records Vacation And Productive Time on the Same Day

Symptom

You recognise that the actual hours worked for an employee are displayed correctly when you click on the tab Employee Times, but when you click on the tab Time Account Balance the excess time is lost.

Vacation has been deducted from entitlement.

But other than expected, actual hours worked have not been deducted.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Time Administration work center
  2. Click on Employees view
  3. Search for Employee ID
  4. Click on Employee Name
  5. Click Edit
  6. Select tab Employee Times
  7. Search for the date
  8. For example, Actual Hours Worked are displayed as 5 hours or two times 2.5 hours, and Vacation is displayed as 4 hours
  9. Click on tab Time Account Balances
  10. When selecting the relevant Working Time Account, you expect 5 recorded hours. But only 4 hours are recorded.

Cause

If a user records time that contains leave and productive time on the same day, leave time will only be considered for the calculation of working time account posting, till the total time recorded fulfills the planned hours. It will not be considered for calculating excess time.

Resolution

There are the following, possible combinations if user records leave as well as productive hours on the same day.

Scenario 1:

Total recorded time exceeds the planned time. Productive time is less than planned time. The working time account will not have any excess posting entry.

Example:

Planned time = 8 hours
Leave recorded time = 4 hours
Productive time = 5 hours
Total time = 9 hours

Absence time will only be considered to the extent of fulfilling the total planned time but not to calculate excess time.

A workaround for scenario 1 is either to manually adjust the time account balance in Time Administration > Time Account Balance or to configure a new time recording profile in Business Configuration work center and then assign the new profile to the employee's Time Profile.

Scenario 2:

Total recorded time exceeds the planned time. Productive time also exceeds the planned time. The working time account will only have a posting entry for excess productive time.

Example:

Planned time = 8 hours
Leave recorded time = 2 hours
Productive time = 9 hours
Total time = 11 hours

Working time account posting = 1 hour which is excess productive time.

Scenario 3:

Total working time is less than planned time.

Example:

Planned time = 8 hours
Leave recorded time = 4 hours
Productive time = 3 hours
Total time = 7 hours

Working time account posting = -1 hour
