2788403 - Reopen Closed Fiscal Year For Correction Postings

You want to open the last Period PPP (PPP is the period) of the closed Fiscal Year YYYY (YYYY is the year) for correction postings.

But you have three open fiscal years.

According to KBA 2497093 - "More Than 3 Years Open, Creation of Future Fiscal Year not Permitted When Opening New Fiscal Year", you are not allowed to have more than three fiscal years open.

1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
2. Go to the Open and Close Periods subview in the Common Tasks view.

For Company ABC (ABC is the Company ID), Fiscal year YYYY, Accounting Period PPP, the Open button is inactive.

The KBA 2497093 - "More Than 3 Years Open, Creation of Future Fiscal Year not Permitted When Opening New Fiscal Year", applies only while creating a new fiscal year.

It is possible to reopen a closed fiscal year even if there are three fiscal years open.

Before reopening the year, you must open all the periods of all the fiscal years leading to the one which you want to make the correction posting.

Once all periods are open, follow the steps below to open the closed fiscal year:

1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
2. Go to the Set of Books and Assigned Companies subview in the Master Data view.
3. Search and select the Set Of Book SOBN (SOBN is the set of books ID) for Company ABC.
4. Click on the Edit Fiscal Year button.
5. Search and select the Fiscal Year YYYY.

The Year YYYY is closed.

6. Click on the Reopen Fiscal Year button.
7. Click Save.

The Year YYYY is open now.

8. Go to the Open and Close Periods subview in the Common Tasks view.

For Company ABC, Fiscal year YYYY, Accounting Period PPP, the Open button is active.

You must perform the same steps for all the Set of Books assigned to this company.

After reopening the period, you have to reverse both the balance carryforward steps and then perform the correction postings.
