2788407 - Error: "Inbound message processing failed" While Migrating Bills of Material

Symptom

Your requirement is to migrate the Bills of Material using the migration tool. During the Simulation, you receive the below error:

Inbound message processing failed

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view or Overview
  3. Search and Open the activity Migration of Bills of Material
  4. Choose Migrate bills of material using the migration tool
  5. Execute Migration for the respective Migration File with migration mode Add new records
  6. You receive the mentioned error message during the Simulation step

Cause

Quantity is missing for the output products. In the BoM Variants sheet in the migration file, Quantity and Quantity UoM fields are empty for all records.

Resolution

Provide valid Quantity and Quantity UoM for all BoM Variants and proceed with the migration activity.
