2788477 - Unable to Create Automatic Serial Number While Confirming a Pick Task

For a product, a serial number is maintained as being "Mandatory on transfer to/from customers". When confirming the pick task, you expect to be able to auto-create a registered product by entering the serial numbers in the Next Serial Number field. Alternatively, you also expect to be able to use the Upload function. However, whenever you enter the serial number, the system does not register the input. Uploading the serial numbers also leads to the same result.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Navigate to the Outbound Logistics work center.
2. Go to the Task Control view.
3. Find and select the relevant task.
4. Click the Confirm button.
5. Go to the Serial Numbers tab.
6. Select the row with the relevant product.
7. Enter a serial number (e.g. 1234 or any other value) in the Next Serial Number field.
8. Hit the Enter key.
9. The system does not register the serial input. It is also not possible to use the +Upload button to upload the serial numbers.

The usage of barcode (Element: Automatic Identification) is not scoped in your Implementation Project/Change Project. Next Serial Number and Upload work via barcodes. A serial number is converted into the barcode format and then posted into the system.

Please scope the element Automatic Identification into the system by following the below steps:

1. Navigate to Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the relevant project.
4. Click the Edit Project Scope button.
5. Find and activate the element Automatic Identification.
6. Save your changes.
7. You may need to restart the system to activate the changes.
