2789221 - Adding a new employee for fixed term contract FAQ

Symptom

A new feature was added to allow for the creation of fixed term contracts. This means that you can add the termination date and reason during the creation of the new employee. This is helpful when hiring interns, apprentices, and/or seasonal workers into Employee Central.

With this feature, admins can add a new employment and set the termination date in one transaction. If workflows are also configured, this means that only 1 approval workflow is triggered, making the process more efficient. For example, a customer hires a high number of seasonal workers for an already known exit date, instead of having to select every hire and having to add a subsequent termination, the whole process can now be managed in one single transaction.

Please refer to Managing Employment in Employee Central for additional details on the configuration of this new feature, Adding a New Employee with a Fixed Term Contract

Please note the following:

  • This feature is not supported with Manage Pending Hires (MPH) or Rehire Inactive Employee. The fixed term employees will need to be hired through the new tool Add New Employee for Fixed Term
  • When hiring new employee(s) via Imports, you will still need to complete two imports, one hiring and another for termination.
  • This feature is only available for People Profile
