2789880 - Fixed Asset Class Is Not Consistent with Product Category in Purchase Order

Symptom

After you change the product category in purchase order, the fixed asset purchased is still in the fixed class derived from the old product category.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

Fixed asset class is determined by product category in purchase order. Such determination is configured in fine-tuning activity Asset Class Determination.

You create a purchase order.

Before goods receipt, you change the product category in the purchase order.

These two product categories determines two fixed classes.

You perform goods receipt.

However, the fixed asset generated per the goods receipt is of the fixed asset class derived from the old product category in the purchase order.

Cause

Once individual material is generated, the asset class of it is derived from product category in purchase order. The later update of product category in purchase order will not reflect in the created individual material. So after goods receipt, fixed asset derives the asset class from the individual material.

Resolution

Once you change the product category in purchase order, you have to update the asset class in individual matrial manually.

Note: Before you update the asset class in individual matrial manually with following steps, please cancel goods receipt first.

  1. Go to Purchase Requests and Orders work center and view Purchase Orders.
  2. Edit the purchase order.
  3. Go to Items tab.
  4. Go to tab Account Assignments or tab Individual Material.
  5. Open the indivudual material, and Edit.
  6. Update the asset class and Save.
