Symptom

  • What is the syntax to log into an ASE server using isql with SSL, without using an interfaces file, or sql.ini.
  • For example, the command used when not SSL is:
    isql -Uusername -Shostname:port
  • However, an error is raised when use the command:
  • isql -Uusername -Shostname:port:ssl
    SSL or Crypto Error Info: psn 196, vsn 482, sockp 175ceeb00 error id 302, severity -2, provider id 0.

    SSL or Crypto Error Message: 'The SSL handshake failed. Root error: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol'.
  • What is the proper syntax?
