2790677 - Item Description Document Column in Uploaded Bank Statement Shows Strange Characters Instead of Data in Hebrew

Symptom

  • You have uploaded a MT940 UK Bank Statement file which contains information in Hebrew language.
  • Item Description Document column in the Bank Statement shows strange characters such השון ¢"ž instead of the information in Hebrew.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Liquidity Management work center.
  2. Go to the Bank Statements view.
  3. Open the relevant Bank Statement.
    Note: Item Document Description column shows strange characters.
    Example:
    Item ID XYZ: מלון ××•×§×™×™×× ×•×¡ (XYZ represents the Line Item ID)

Cause

For MT940 UK Bank Statement files the system expects an encoding ISO-8859-1 which does not contain Hebrew characters, this is why the wrong characters are displayed instead.

Resolution

A change in the encoding needs to be performed in the specific systems affected.
Please open an incident with permission to perform the correction so that the Hebrew characters can be displayed.
