2798678 - Difference between Territory ID and Sales Territory ID fields in a workflow rule

Symptom

You are creating a workflow rule for a sales document (i.e. Leads). In the conditions dropdown list, you can see one field called "Sales Territory ID" and another one called "Territory ID". You wonder which the difference between these two standard fields.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Administration work center.
  2. Go to the Workflow rules view.
  3. Click New.
  4. Choose a sales Business Object, for example Leads.
  5. Go to the "Define Conditions" tab.
  6. Click "Add Condition".
    RESULT: In the dropdown menu, there is a field called "Sales Territory ID" and another one called "Territory ID".

Cause

The "Sales Territory ID" is the territory maintained inside the Lead's header.

However, the "Territory ID" is the territory maintained inside the account which is linked to the Lead.

Resolution

This is the way both territories are called. If you consider that it is confusing, you can change their names using the Language Adaptation tool.
