SAP Knowledge Base Article - Preview

2799356 - Installing Sybase ASE 16.0 on Linux CentOS 6.10 - hangs right after creating the master device.

Symptom

  • When installing through the setup.bin and creating a 2k server, it gets to the part where it says:

    Configure New Adaptive Server
    -----------------------------
    Building SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise 'SYBASE':
    Writing entry into directory services...
    Directory services entry complete.
    Building master device...
     
    It hangs at this message, it never comes back
     
  • When using srvbuildres -r server.rs

    The errorlog shows:

    The logical pagesize of the server is 2 Kb.
    kernel sddone: read error on virtual disk 0 block 28:
    kernel sddone: Invalid argument
    server Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 1

  • Creating a 4k server, there are no issues at all.
