Reproducing the Issue
- In Crystal Reports, create a report off any data source.
- Insert at least one database fields in the Details section.
- Insert Column Header(s) in the Page Header section.
- Insert text in the Report Header section.
- When refreshing the report, notice the text inserted in the Report Header section show before the Column Headers located in the Page Header section.
- Export the report to Microsoft Word (97-2003) Editable format.
- When opening the document generated in MS Word, it shows the Page Header text, before the text that was inserted in the Report Header section of the report.
Cause
- Limitation of the Microsoft Word (97-2003) Editable format exporting driver.
- The Microsoft Word (97-2003) - Editable exporting driver does not have the functionality to export the Report Header section to a Cover Page section of a MS Word document, therefore it export the text to the body section of a MS Word document, and this is why the text in the Page Header, like Column Headers, displays before the text you see in the Report Header section when exporting a report from Crystal Reports to MS Word Editable format.
Resolution
- Export the report to a different format that supports exporting the Report Header before the Page Header:
- MS Word
- Rich Text Format (RTF)
- PDF
