2800433 - Error: "Released List prices exist for Product XXX", While Trying to Update Product Category for Materials

You would like to change the Product Category of a material or of a product, but you receive the below error message:

Save failed

Released List prices exist for Product XXX (where XXX represents product ID)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to e.g. Product Data work center
2. Select e.g. Materials view
3. Select required ID and select Edit
4. Change the Product Category as required and select Save
5. Upon saving you receive the above mentioned error

This relates to a check introduced with 1905 release. As the released list prices would be used up in the purchasing documents, the list prices would become invalid when there is a change in the product category. If the product category change was allowed, then creating new list prices would not cancel the existing ones automatically.

This check has been modified in 2105 release and once your system is upgraded to 2105 version, you can change the product category directly in product master data without any error.
