Symptom
You are using the reports Sales Targets for Incoming and Invoiced Orders (Manager) and Invoice Volume. You notice that the key figure Net Value shows different amounts, even if you set the exact same variables (account, product, calendar day etc.) in both reports.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the work center Business Analytics, view Design Reports.
- Open the reports Sales Targets for Incoming and Invoiced Orders (Manager) and Invoice Volume.
- Set the same variables in both reports, so they filter for the same time period, account etc.
- Check the Net Value key figure in both reports. They show different values.
Cause
The reports have different settings and they are meant for different purposes.
Resolution
The Invoice Volume report is based on the invoice date. So if you filter for a specific time frame, this report will consider the invoice document and the date it was invoiced.
The report Sales Targets for Incoming and Invoiced Orders (Manager) is based on sales orders. So if you filter for a specific time frame, this report will consider the posting date of the respective sales order.
Depending on your use case, you may choose one or the other report to reflect the scenario you need.
