2802245 - Error Consuming OData Service in Excel 2016

Symptom

When trying to consume an OData feed from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition in Excel 2016, the following errors are displayed in Excel:

We can't use the data from this feed. Make sure te external data feed server is available and that your connection information is correct
Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 
  • Microsoft Excel 2016

Cause

When requesting an Odata Data Feed from Excel, you clicked the button labeled "From Other Sources" on the Data Bar in Excel

Resolution

  • To consume an Odata Data Feed from Excel 2016:
    1. Click the "New Query" button on the Data Bar
    2. Select "From Other Sources" from the resulting dropdown menu
    3. Select "From OData Feed" from the dropdown submenu
    4. Follow the prompts to specify the URL of the OData feed and the credentials for accessing the feed
