Symptom

Error received "Wrong characters or leading lower case character in the field: First Name" when processing Onboarding candidate

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding - All Version

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Onboarding Dashboard
  2. Pick any candidate in the work queue
  3. When you try to advance to the next screen/panel the error is shown "Wrong characters or leading lower case character in the field: FieldName", where FieldName can be any field you have a validator on it

Cause

Invalid validator is not allowing to advance through the panels

Resolution

  1. Navigate to Onboarding Dashboard
  2. Settings
  3. Panels
  4. Click on the Panel where do you get the error
  5. Click in the field mentioned in the error (First Name, for this given example)
  6. Scroll down and check if the validator you have for this field is valid
