2806094 - Shared memory errors in shmget or basis_get_membufs on Solaris - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Database dump fails with messages in Backup Server log and messages to console
    • There are most likely other ways to get these types of shared memory errors, for example when starting ASE
       
    • Backup Server log:
      Backup Server: 4.139.2.82: [23] The 'shmget' call failed for database/archive device while working on stripe device '/dump/location/DB.dmp' with error number 22 (Invalid argument). 
      Refer to your operating system documentation for further details. Look for '<date time stamp> A11: SYBMULTBUF ERROR
       
    • Console message where 'dump database' is run:
      SYBMULTBUF ERROR: In basis_get_membufs, failed to create shared memory segment for I/O buffers. shmget call failed with system error=Invalid argument
