Resolution

"Accrual Recalculation Posting Method" setting in Time Account Type configuration will decide how we internally store recalculation postings of accruals in Time Account.

This field has two possible values:

1. Classic

If you choose Classic, three recalculation postings to a time account are made for an accrual period during the recalculation process, as follows:

    • One posting with the original accrual value.
    • One posting to set the original accrual value to zero.
    • One posting with the new calculated accrual value.

NOTE:

  • The Accrual Recalculation Posting Method "Classic" is planned to be deprecated by 1H 2025 release. Refer TIM-35667 in What's New Viewer
  • A validation check is added with the 1H 2023 release to not allow saving a Time Account Type with the Accrual Recalculation Posting Method 'Classic'. (The message raised is: "You cannot use the Accrual Posting Method "Classic" as this is planned to be deprecated in future. Please use the "No Recalculation Postings" posting method instead"). Refer TIM-35656 in What's New Viewer

2. No Recalculation Postings

If you choose No Recalculation Postings, there will be only one time account posting in each accrual period. The original value will be updated to the new one.

"No Recalculation Postings" was introduced at a later point in time due to the following known issues with Classic way of posting recalculation:

    • Performance: we have customers using a daily accrual quantity with permanent account. That means every year, about 365 time account details are added to that account. If there is a recalculation relevant change it may happen that all accrual are recalculated. Instead of 365 time account details per year you would get 365*3=1095 postings.
    • Only date changes are reflected but no balance changes: If customer change the rule that way, that the accrual date is changed, these changes are not reflected as recalculation posting should always be balance neutral.

Note:

  • "Accrual Recalculation Posting Method" has default value as "No Recalculation Postings" from 1H 2020 release (i.e from 1H 2020 release, whenever a new time account type is created the default balue will be "No Recalculation Postings", however, time account types created before this change still has the value as 'Classic' and customers may change it manually if required.)
  • By default "Accrual Recalculation Posting Method" field visibility is set to "Visible" (Only for new customers, from 1H 2020 release. Existing customers will have the visibility set as 'Not Visible').
