Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management

Resolution

Weighting is used to emphasize and quantify the value of performance factors. A common scenario is to use weighting to quantify the number of man hours required to complete a project. Weights are the numerical value used to determine weighting increments.

Weighting areas usually appear next to goals and competencies on a form. As you consider your evaluation comments, you can also quantify the value of the goal or competency by choosing a weight. Weighting values are based on a total of 100%, with the division of weight determined by either your company or your manager.

The weight of a competency defines how much emphasis is placed on the value of a single competency. For example, if a job role includes four competencies, you can rank the importance of the competencies by assigning weights. You can assign the competencies to weights of 40%, 20%, 20%, and 20% respectively. When you do this, the score given to the competency with a 40% weight have a more significant impact on the overall score.
