2806846 - Unable to update the Login Method field in People Profile

Symptom

  • Login Method field in Employee Profile is greyed out and you cannot update
  • Is not being possible to edit the Login Method field in EP
  • Login Method is not available to be change from SSO to PWD

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

Customers have configured Login Method field in People profile in the past and now the Login Method field is greyed out.

  1. Open Employee Profile for a user
  2. Head to Personal Information detail and edit
  3. Try to select a value in Login Method field
  4. As the Login Method is greyed out, it is not possible to select any value

Cause

Login Method field in People Profile is not recommended, because to maintain a value in Employee Central and update the same value (login method) in UDF a custom HRIS Sync Mapping would need to be maintained. We currently do not support any HRIS Sync Mappings for the loginMethod field.

Resolution

We recommend you to neither include system fields in the data model nor add blocks containing system fields in People Profile.

That is because system fields cannot be modified through Employee Profile. If you have already added system fields, we strongly recommend you disable the edit permissions on system fields for employees.
