2808911 - Sorting of jobLevel field - Compensation Management

Symptom

The jobLevel fields seems to be not sorting as expected.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Compensation tab;
  2. Open form;
  3. Sort column job level;
  4. 12 is coming before 2.

Cause

The jobLevel field is an alphanumeric field (can contain both letters and numbers), the column sorts as text, not numbers.

Resolution

This behavior is expected. If the value are all numeric it will sort like this 1, 10, 11, 12, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. or 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 10, 11, 12.

Please note that fields are sorted per page (not for the whole population).
