2809366 - How To Remove / Delete a Business Partner Role in S/4HANA Cloud

It is required to remove an assigned role form a Business Partner in S/4HANA Cloud.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. A role has been assigned to a business partner by mistake and needs to be removed 
2. A role which has been assigned to a business partner is no longer required.

N.B. If the role to be deleted for the Business Partner is a Customer or Supplier master role then the Customer/Supplier general data as well as any Purchasing Organisation, Sales Area or Company Code data needs to be archived and deleted separately first before the role itself can be removed. If the underlying Customer/Supplier data is not archived then this creates a mismatch in that the Business Partner would have no Customer/Supplier role but the underlying data would persist. The need to archive and delete the underlying Customer and/or Supplier data for the Business Partner is a prerequisite to prevent unintended data loss if a BP role is mistakenly deleted. See KBA 2742388 for steps on how to delete the Customer/Supplier data. 

In the Maintain Business Partner Master Data  App the Role can be removed as follows.

1. Open the Maintain Business Partner Master Data App
2. Select the Business Partner for which a role is to be removed.
3. Open the Business Partner in Edit mode by pressing the "Switch Between Display and Change" button.
4. Select the Role to be deleted and press the "Role Detail" button and the end of the Role Text Box (Magnafying Glass Icon)
5. Select the Role to be removed and press delete row.
   
6. Save the Business Partner

In the Manage Business Partner Master Data, Manage Supplier Master Data or Manage Customer Master Data App(s) the Role can be removed as follows.

1. Open the Manage Business Partner Master Data App
2. Search for and select the Business Partner for which a role is to be removed.
3. Open the Business Partner in Edit mode by pressing the "Edit" button.
4. Press the Role button to be taken to the Role seciton or scroll down the page to it. 
5. Select the Role to be removed and press delete.
6. Save the Business Partner
