2809995 - Error: 'Proposed canvas size is too small for existing components' while running / editing ORD or Canvas reports

You receive the error message "Proposed canvas size is too small for existing components" while attempting to run or edit ORD (Canvas) Reports:

Proposed canvas size is too small for existing components

  • Online Report Designer / Report - Canvas  Advanced Reporting
• SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics

• Login to the instance
• Run or Edit the affected Report
• Observe error message "Proposed canvas size is too small for existing components" 

The report's canvas size was set to something smaller than the combined dimensions of all the report components used in it.

1. Edit the affected report and navigate to the affected page. 
2. Select "Edit page properties" under the "Page Properties" section located at the bottom left corner of the screen.  
3. If the "Constrain to paper size" option is enabled, disable it.  
4. Incrementally increase the width and height of the "Canvas Size" section by 100 units and select "OK."
5. Repeat step 4 until the error message no longer appears.  
6. Adjust the report components to the smallest possible size.  
7. Return to the "Page Properties" section and set the desired size constraints for the canvas size, including the required orientation and margins. 
8. Select "OK" to return to the canvas designer.  
9. Adjust the report components again to the desired dimensions.
