2810174 - Database Instance error Parameter dbHome has to be a valid ORACLE_HOME

Symptom

  • Installation of SAP NetWeaver 7.x fails in step 'Database Instance'.
  • The error entry in sapinst_dev.log is:

TRACE  (root/sapinst) (startInstallation) [SLPGuiEngine.cpp:214] SLPGuiEngine::showMessageBoxHandleButtonImpl()

You can now: </p> <ul> <li> Choose <i>Retry</i><br>to repeat the current step. </li> <li> Choose <i>Log Files</i><br>to get more information about the error. </li> <li> Stop the option and continue later. </li> </ul> <p> Log files are written to /usr/sap_install/<SID>/DB. </p> </body> </html>.

  • In sapinst_dev.log the ORACLE_HOME can be seen as set to:

ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/v12102a

ORACLE_SID=<DBSID>

ORACLE_TERM=rxvt
