Symptom

  • Creating index on a temporary table via a stored procedure
  • Using a user tempdb
  • Causes error 806

    Error: 806, Severity: 21, State: 1
    Could not find virtual page for logical page % in database 'user_tempdb_name'.
  • Followed by a stacktrace including ASE functions:

    log_to_virt
    virtmap
    bufgrab
    getpage_with_validation
    dol_getkey_from_datarow
    bt__delkey_needtoblock
    bt__check_unique_DELRID
    bt__check_unique_space
    bt__insert_into_leaf
