2810661 - Employee Name Displayed as Last Name First Name, Even Though you Have Maintained Another Name Format in Business Configuration

You have maintained a configuration as e.g. First Name Last Name for the desired country in Business Configuration work center.

But the name of an employee is still displayed as Last Name First Name in Business Partner work center.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to Business Configuration work center
2. Click on Implementation Projects
3. Select the implementation project
4. Click on Open Activity List
5. Search for General Business Partner
6. Click on Maintain Name Format
7. Select the country
8. The order is First Name and then Last Name
9. Go to Business Partners work center
10. Click on Business Partners tab
11. Select All Business Partners
12. Search for Employees
13. Open the relevant business partner
14. Note: Name is displayed as Last Name First Name

A change in the General Business Partner activity > Maintain Name Format in Business Configuration work center doesn't have an impact on existing business partner records. It is recommended to maintain the name format before the first business partners are created in the system.

There are different default configurations for different countries by system design. For example, according to Chinese name formatting rules Last Name comes before First Name and according to US formatting rules the format is First Name and then Last Name.

What you can do to change the name format of that employee is to update Country for Name Format of that employee to a different country, like US, where the formatting rule is First Name Last Name. You can find the Country for Name Format as follows:

1. Go to Administrator work center
2. Click on Employees
3. Search for employee
4. Click on Edit 
5. A new tab Maintain Employee will open
6. Below First Name and Last Name click on Additional Name Fields
7. A new window Employee Name will open
8. Change the Country for Name Format

Note: The Country for Name Format of that employee is not equal to the Country of the employee. The Country of the employee will be still the original one, but the Country for Name Format will be different.
