2813471 - Background-Element Field Returns No Data When Using Talent Search

Symptom

When leveraging the Talent Search tool to search for data contained in a specific field of a Background Portlet no results are returned, despite there being data present for the Background Portlet field on the Employee Profile.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Verify that an example user has data in a specific data field in a Background Portlet on the Employee Profile.

  2. Choose the Advanced Information section of the Talent Search and input the data which matches the data field of the Background Portlet.

  3. The Talent Search returns no results.

Cause

This issue may be caused due to configurtaion of the data field for the Background Portlet in Manage Business configuration. The data-fields support the following field-names for Talent Search; name | desc | vfld1 | vfld2 | vfld3 | vfld4 | vfld5 | vfld6 | vfld7 | vfld8 | vfld9 | vfld10 | vfld11 | vfld12 | vfld13 | vfld14 | vfld15 | startDate | endDate | dfld1 | dfld2 | dfld3 | ifld1 | ifld2 | ifld3 | ifld4 | ifld5 | ffld1 | ffld2 | ffld3 | ffld4 | lastModified | attachment1

  1. To verify you can check the configuration through navigating first to the Manage Business Configuration tool in the Admin Center and selecting the corresponding background element.

  2. Then select the details section of the data-field which is not returning results and verify if the field-name field is supported, for example VFLD19 is not supported.

Resolution

  1. The field-name should be updated to a supported value.

    NOTE:     If you change the field-name value, for example from VFLD19 to VFLD15, the corresponding data stored in this field may be lost.

  2. Once updated and corresponding data is present in the system, results should appear in the Talent Search for the data-field of the Background Portlet.
