2818267 - Data Volume Management during migration to SAP S/4HANA

When migrating to an S/4HANA environment, there are many factors & topics to consider. One major topic is data. What to do with legacy data and what are the implications of what we do, are relevant questions. Whether legacy data is migrated to S/4HANA or not, it still must be taken into consideration. The impact on legacy data and the future use of it after being migrated to S/4HANA must be well thought out. A challenging topic that must be addressed is Archiving. Archiving business application data, which is critical in reducing the conversion runtime, must be discussed with the relevant business departments to ensure that all statutory and fiscal requirements are met and can continue to be met.
In this document we try to help you work through the implications to arrive at a decision about what to do with your data. To that end we have identified following scenarios worthy of consideration: System Conversion and Selective Data Transition (also known as Landscape Transformation).

SAP S/4HANA adoption with following scenarios:

  1. System Conversion: Complete conversion of an existing SAP Business Suite system to SAP S/4HANA
  2. Selective Data Transition (formerly known as Landscape Transformation): Consolidation of current regional SAP Business Suite landscape or selective data transformation into one global SAP S/4HANA system
