2819504 - No Access Restriction when you Open a Report via Business Analytics Work Center

You opened a report via the work center Business Analytics and are wondering why the maintained access restriction is not working correctly.

• SAP Business by Design

1. Go to the work center Business Analytics, view Design Reports.
2. Open a report with an access restriction and an access context.
3. You notice that the displayed Access Context is shown as No Restrictions, the maintained access restriction does not work and the user can see all the data.

This is the expected system behaviour and is working as designed.

The reason why the users can see all the data is because they are opening the report through the work center Business Analytics. Business Analytics has no restrictions as it is basically the admin work center for reporting.

In SAP Cloud for Customer the users need to open the report in the Analysis work center.

In SAP Business by Design the users need to open the report in the assigned work center.

If you open an oData link via the Business Analytics work center but are not assigned to the work center itself you will receive the error message "In the context of Data Services an unknown http error occured"  in the browser. In this case you need to open the oData report via the assigned work center (ByD) or the Analysis work center (C4C). The access restriction in oData works the same way. An oData link that uses the work center Business Analytics does not have a restriction and shows all available report data.
