Cause

This issue may be caused when Families and Roles are not configured for users in the instance.

Resolution

By default, when no filters are configured for competencies in the Development Plan Template, the system will display the information in the Competencies section, when adding a Goal/Objective, based on the users' roles and forms.

For Development Plan Templates not using filters for Competencies, or using a filter to exclude competencies from forms, Families and Roles must be configured for users in the instance, the job codes must be mapped to job roles with competencies associated.

The same may apply when the template is configured with filter to exclude only forms (tag <exclude type="forms"/>). The system understands that only the competencies mapped to the users' job role should appear in the Competencies section.

To avoid an empty box in Competencies field, when adding a Goal/Objective, there are two alternatives:

  1. Map users job code to a job role with competencies associated. Manage Families and Roles (JDM or JPB);
  2. Configure the competencies filter to include the Competency Libraries or Categories created in the instance.

The first option, will require the configuration of legacy Families and Roles (JDM) or Job Profile Builder (JPB), in Admin Center (self-service), for all users in the instance, to match the Development Plan Template configuration. This ensures that competencies are linked to relevant development goals.

  • If the legacy Job Description Manager is enabled, go to Admin Center > Families and Roles > Manage Job Roles and map the competencies to roles;
  • If the Job Profile Builder is enabled, go to Admin Center > Manage Job Profile Content > Set Up Families and Roles and map the competencies to roles.

Complete information on how to configure Families and Roles, access the Job Profile Builder Administration Guide.

The second option, will require to go through a Configuration Change Request in the XML code of the Development Plan, that can be completed by an Implementation Partner, or Cloud Support, in case you are no longer working with a Partner.

Complete information on all available filters configuration for Competencies is available in the section "Linking Development Goals to Competencies" of the Career Development Planning Implementation and Administration Guide.
