2820583 - Is it possible to Prevent Indexing of the Career Site in Recruiting - Recruiting Marketing

Symptom

  • Is it possible to prevent the site and the job pages from being found by search engines?
  • Is there a way to prevent indexing of the RMK site via the CSB configuration?
  • Can the file robots.txt be customized to prevent indexing.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing

Resolution

  • All RMK pages are designed to be publicly accessible.
  • The main point of RMK is to enhance Search Engine Optmization for better online visibility of your jobs and therefore a better chance of attracting suitable candidates. It would therefore be counterpoductive to cater for preventing the mechanisms that allow for this to happen.
  • As a result, there are no settings in CSB to actively prevent the entire site from being indexed.
  • There is some customization possible however, see 2956815 SEO Settings - Career Site Builder - Recruiting Marketing
  • Note though that it is actually not possible to totally prevent search engines from scraping and indexing public content.
  • As to the robots.txt, it is generated at a system level per Data center. As a result, it is not possible to customize it per site.
