2821131 - Error Triggered When Entering a Negative Quantity in Production Task

Symptom

For Production Task XXX, when entering a negative quantity for the Input Product YYY, error triggered.

XXX = Task ID

YYY = Product ID

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Production Control work center.
  2. Select Task Control view.
  3. Find the task XXX.
  4. Select the task XXX.
  5. Click Confirm.
  6. Select Confirmation tab.
  7. Choose Input Products subtab.
  8. Select Product YYY.
  9. Enter a negative quantity for Product YYY.
  10. Error triggered:

A negative actual quantity is not permitted.

Cause

Confirming negative quantity for an Input Product is only allowed when the line item has been consumed previously, which means there is a positive Total Confirmed Quantity of this Input Product.

Resolution

Since the Total Confirmed Quantity of Input Product YYY is zero, the error is expected system behavior.
