2822149 - HADR: setuphadr failed with SQL error (80) Unable to start database server

Symptom

  • When performing a 'setuphadr' command with a resource file on companion host, HADR installation failed because it failed to create ERSSD device and start ERSSD server.

[RunRSInit] - Running task: initialize ERSSD.
[RunRSInit] - SQL Anywhere temporary location: /tmp/.SQLAnywhere, which could be altered by setting environment variable in priority: SATMP-> TMP-> TMPDIR-> TEMP if necessary.
[RunRSInit] - Initializing ERSSD
[RunRSInit] - SQL error (-80) -- Unable to start database server
[RunRSInit] - Database "<SYBASE_HOME_DIRECTORY>/DM/<CID>_REP_<SITE1>/<CID>_REP_<SITE1>_RSSD/db/<CID>_REP_<SITE1>_RSSD.db" not created

  • When trying to create a ERSSD on the host manually, dbinit failed to run as well.
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="<SYBASE_HOME_DIRECTORY>/DM/REP-16_0/ASA17/lib
    export PATH=$PATH:<SYBASE_HOME_DIRECTORY>/DM/REP-16_0/ASA17/bin
    <SYBASE_HOME_DIRECTORY>/DM/REP-16_0/ASA17/bin/dbinit -dba dba,sybase -c -b -k -o RSSD.out RSSD.db

    [RSSD.out]
    SQL error (-80) -- Unable to start database server
