2823849 - Error "Unexpected EOF at offset" in the upgrade phase PREP_INPUT/INSTANCELIST_PRE

Symptom

You are running an update/upgrade using SUM tool and you get following error in the phase "PREP_INPUT/INSTANCELIST_PRE".

In the INSTANCELIST_PRE.LOG you find these errors:

  • 1EETQ399 Unexpected EOF at offset 1376
    1EETQ399 Last error code set is: Unexpected EOF at offset 1376

In the SAPPROFILE_<host>_XX.LOG following lines can be found for parameter "zcsa/installed_languages":

  • Ignoring invalid formula: zcsa/installed_languages=(4568ACDEFGHILNQRSTWZd뢚벢봏
    Ignoring invalid formula: zcsa/installed_languages=(4568ACDEFGHILNQRSTWZd뢚벢봏
