2825474 - Unable to Find External ID Field in Data Workbench or OData

You are working with Data Workbench, but cannot find the External ID that is usually used in integration scenarios with external systems in any of the templates used with the Data Workbench view. You've also noticed that the field is also not available in any of the standard OData collections.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the Data Workbench work center.
2. Go to the Import view.
3. Select the object in question.
4. Click the Download button.
5. Once the template is downloaded, open it through excel.
6. See that the External ID field is not present.

The External ID field is currently not supported in Data Workbench, for all of its scenarios (import, export and update). It is also not available when using OData. The External Key field that is unique to Data Workbench scenarios should not to be confused with the External ID field, as they are not the same.

As a workaround, please use replication from your external system to create/update external IDs.

You can also use the work center view ID Mapping for Integration in the Administrator work center: in this work center view, you can use the Excel upload feature to update records with the required external IDs, as well as export existing external IDs if necessary (please observe that the framework of the Excel export/upload has a smaller threshold than the Data Workbench, working with only as much as 10,000 records at a time).
