2825712 - Error - Posting date must not be before posting date XX/XX/XXXX of tax return Z for [country]

Symptom

When attempting to post a Tax Payment, the following error message is displayed:

“Posting date must not be before posting date XX/XX/XXXX of tax return Z for [Country].”

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Tax Management work center.
  2. Click on New Tax Payment view.
  3. Enter the details.
  4. Click on Check.
  5. Error: “Posting date must not be before posting date XX/XX/XXXX of tax return Z for United States.”

NOTE: The error occurs for all countries. Here, the country name = United States is just an example.

Cause

Tax Payments can be posted on or after the End Date of the related Tax Return.

Example:
If a Tax Return is created for the period DD.MM.YYYY to DD.MM.YYYY, the posting date of the Tax Payment must be DD.MM.YYYY or later.

If a posting date earlier than the End Date is entered (e.g., DD.MM.YYYY), the system will treat the transaction as a Tax Prepayment, and the Tax Payment Type must be updated to Tax Prepayment accordingly.

Resolution

This is a standard system behavior.
