2827889 - sp_showoptstats generates incomplete XML output - SAP ASE

Symptom

On SAP ASE systems using utf8 character set, sp_showoptstats may generate incomplete and corrupt XML output.

On systems running SAP applications, t-code DBACockpit -> Space -> Single-Table Analysis fails with the error: errors occurred when parsing the statistics XML

For histogram steps referencing multibyte character values, the closing STEP tags are missing between certain steps.
