2831120 - The Project Planned Cost Shows Zero After Maintaining Material or service in the Project

You have maintained material ABC (ABC represents the ID of the material) or Service PQR( PQR represents the ID of the service) in Project DEF(DEF represents the ID of the project). You think that the material cost will be included in the project planned cost. But when you look at the project planned cost, it shows zerodue to below errors.

Valuation of material ABC in business residence XYZ failed on DD-MM-YYYY

 or

Valuation of service PQR in company GHI failed on  DD-MM-YYYY

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Project Management work center.
2. Go to Projects view.
3. Show All Projects and search DEF.
4. Edit Project DEF.
5. Navigate to Project Overview tab.
6. You see that Planned Cost is zero.

Valuation of material ABC or Service PQR failed because material /service cost valid from date is later than scheduled earliest start date of a project task. You can follow the steps below to see the relevant error.

1. Go to Cost and Revenue work center.
2. Go to Projects view.
3. Show All Projects and search DEF.
4. Select Project DEF and click on View Plan Values.
5. You see that the status of Project Task DEF-01(DEF-01 represents the ID of the project task) is Error(in red).
6. Navigate to Messages tab.
7. You see error message mentioned above

You need re-maintain the valuation of the material ABC  to make a valid cost on DD.MM.YYYY, and then valuate project task DEF-01 again.

1. Go to Inventory Valuation work center.
2. Go to Material Unit Costs view.
3. Search ABC.
4. Select Material ABC in business residence GHI and click on Maintain Valuation Data.
5. Click on Edit Cost.
6. Input Valid From date earlier than DD.MM.YYYY and click on OK.
7. Click on Save.
8. Go to Cost and Revenue work center.
9. Go to Projects view.
10. Show All Projects and search DEF.
11. Select Project DEF and click on View Plan Values.
12. Select Project Task DEF-01 and click on Valuate.
13. The status of Project Task DEF-01 will become green.
14. Click on Save.

You need re-maintain the valuation of the material ABC or service PQR to make a valid cost on DD.MM.YYYY, and then valuate project task DEF-01 again.

1. Go to Product and service portfolio work center
2. Go to service or Product view
3. Search and open the respective material or service
4. Go to valuation tab
5. Select the right Busines residence for materials or company for services
6. Then click on Edit cost rate
7. Input Valid From date earlier than DD.MM.YYYY and click on OK.
8. Click on Save.
9. Go to Cost and Revenue work center.
10. Go to Projects view.
11. Show All Projects and search DEF.
12. Select Project DEF and click on View Plan Values.
13. Select Project Task DEF-01 and click on Valuate.
14. The status of Project Task DEF-01 will become green.
15. Click on Save.
