2831780 - Transfer Event Reason selected on Termination UI during manager termination is not considered for direct reports

Symptom

The Transfer Event Reason selected on termination UI during manager termination is not considered for direct reports. Instead the event reason selected in position management settings 'Event Reason for Assigning Employees to New Manager' is used

Reproducing the Issue

Go to the profile of manager
Click on Take Action-> Terminate
Enter all the required fields
Select a value in the 'Transfer Event Reason' drop down-> Save
Go to the job information of any direct report and check the event reason for the manager change record
You can see that the event reason is incorrect. The transfer event reason selected on termination UI during manager termination is not considered. Instead the event reason selected in position management settings 'Event Reason for Assigning Employees to New Manager' is used

Resolution

This is an expected behavior. The behavior is as explained below.

If Leading Hierarchy is set to Position Hierarchy and 'Reassign Direct Reports According to Position Hierarchy on Termination Screen' is set to Yes-Always, then the event reason from 'Event Reason for Assigning Employees to New Manager' is used.

If Leading Hierarchy is set to Position Hierarchy, 'Reassign Direct Reports According to Position Hierarchy on Termination Screen' is set to Yes-Optional and on Termination Screen 'Everyone According to Position Hierarchy' is selected as transfer direct reports option , then the event reason from 'Event Reason for Assigning Employees to New Manager' is used.

If Leading Hierarchy is set to Position Hierarchy, 'Reassign Direct Reports According to Position Hierarchy on Termination Screen' is set to Yes-Optional and on Termination Screen anything other than 'Everyone According to Position Hierarchy' is selected as transfer direct reports option, then the transfer event reason selected on the UI is used.

In case the 'Transfer Direct Reports' option is set to "Everyone according to position hierarchy" the event reason will be taken from the position management settings and the transfer event reason field will be set to read-only:
