2832415 - Employee Can't Complete I-9 Reverification Due to Foreign Passport Change


  • Foreign passport changed for employee
  • Receive error message saying passport does match passport in records
  • Employee cannot complete the I-9 Reverification process becuase of the error message
  • No option to change passport number on the panels

Reproducing the Issue

Getting this validation error "The following fields are required and must be filled in before you continue:
I reviewed the document selected above.
Form I-20/I-766 - This EAD date does not match the Alien Work Until Date in Section 1. Either change the Work Until Date or re-enter the EAD date. "


The employee's passport number has changed.


  1. Check Alien Work Until Date in I9 Section 1
  2. Then, go to the panel based on the above screenshot in I9 Reverification and enter Expiration Date (use the Alien Work Until Date found in I9 Section 1).

Note: You cannot bypass this panel if Alien Work Until Date from Section 1 and Expiration Date does not match.
