2832823 - Posting to an asset results in error FAA_POST124

Symptom

When a user tries to making a posting to an asset error FAA_POST124 "Balance carryforward is required for CoCode &1 and ledger &2 in year &3" is raised.

Environment

  • Financial Accounting (FI)
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enter the relevant app for posting to an asset.
  2. Enter the details required for the posting. 
  3. Either save or simulate the posting.
  4. The error is raised. 

Cause

The balance carry forward has not been executed for all of the ledgers associated with the company you are making the posting for.

Resolution

The test script lists Asset Accounting System Readiness checks in chapter 2.4.1.
Chapter 2.4.1.2 (Confirm Run of Balance Carry Forward for Current Fiscal Year) describes the steps required after a legacy data transfer in fixed asset accounting.
To resolve the problem follow the steps from the Best Practices Guide in real mode for each ledger and then posting to the asset should be possible.
