How to use the same username while rehiring an employee with new employment?

When employees change legal entity within a company, for example, in the case of an international transfer, the standard practice (especially for payroll reasons) is to terminate one employment and rehire them in a new employment. This means that the system would generate a new user name and user ID automatically. This is however very confusing for the users and causes disruptions.

To avoid issues, you can rehire an employee with new employment and the employee can use their original username (for their first employment) to login into the system. However, after you enable this feature, there must be a complete HRIS sync on existing user data before the rehired users can start using their old user names for logon.

Since the user name field is required and unique, the employee will still receive a new unique user name for their new employment, but for accessing the system they will be able to use the user name associated to their original employment. The employee must reset their password though. The user name is only for access to the system and does not automatically grant access to everything pertaining to the new employment.

Once this setting is activated, it can NEVER be changed.

Enabling the "Enable Login with Old User Name" will not change existing users' data, it only affects users after this enablement. This feature does not work retrospectively.

Result
The feature has been enabled. After the next HRIS sync is completed, rehired users can start using their old user names for logon.
Next Steps:
